Street Impressions

Since its inception, Roadworks has been a highlight of San Francisco's printmaking scene, using a 7-ton 1924 Buffalo Springfield steamroller and Rhode Island Street as an enormous makeshift printing press. This unique event, produced by the San Francisco Center for the Book, presses designs from linocuts onto paper using the steamroller and the street's surface. Eric has been a featured artist eight times in its 20-year run, each time crafting a 3-foot by 3-foot linoleum block. His contributions are showcased in this order:

Godzilla (2011)

Gidorrah (2013)

Gamera (2014)

Mothra (2015)

Shin Godzilla (2017)

The early work became the Monster series, and subsequent projects allowed Eric to experiment with scale, technique, and subject.

Habitat

Linocut, 36”x36” (2021)

Drawing deeply from the natural world, Eric's 'Habitat' captures the fauna and flora of the Sierra Foothills in Northern California. This piece also channels the nostalgic charm of vintage schoolroom posters. Collaborating on the design, Eric's wife, Annie Galvin, brings an additional layer of creativity to the artwork.

By the Sea

Linocut, 36”x36” (2022)

‘By the Sea’ extends the natural exploration begun in 'Habitat,' delving into the mysterious lifeforms beneath the water's surface. This piece also features a collaboration with Annie Galvin, who brings her unique artistic vision to the mesmerizing underwater designs.

Zylah

Linocut, 36”x36” (2023)

Inspired by the process of Chuck Close, Zylah is a portrait of a wonderful young woman whom Eric has known since she was an infant.
